For the Gardener:
These vigorous plants outgrow small pots quickly. Plant soon after purchasing and be careful not to let them dry out.
For the Commercial Grower:
Well-rooted plugs are tough and transport easily. Know the delivery schedule. Be sure the plants are not allowed to sit out in cold weather or high heat. Open the boxes and set trays out in the greenhouse on a shaded bench or an area with reflected light. Water plants thoroughly. Allow 24 hours for the plants to acclimate before planting.
Do not store any longer than necessary. If refrigeration is used set at 55-60ºF. Be sure that no cantaloupes, pears, apples or other ethylene-producing products are stored in the same refrigerator.
